The Mexcellence Podcast

The Mexcellence Podcast was the creation of Sam González in 2014 to promote a positive view of the Mexican-American community by creating humorous content surrounding pop-culture, movies, television and news of the week. In 2016, Sam took a hiatus from The Mexcellence Podcast to join DoubleToasted.com in Austin, Texas as a producer and show host.

Sam returned to The Mexcellence Podcast in 2019 with a new set of hosts and a fully developed home studio where the crew produced a 2-3 hour live show every Tuesday and Thursday. That show was then edited and uploaded to YouTube and cut into vertical videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. The Mexcellence Podcast found success particularly on TikTok and Instagram, combining for over 110,000 followers.

In March of 2025, Sam returned to his home state of California and The Mexcellence Podcast has been on permanent pause for the time being. You can watch the archived TikTok, Instagram and YouTube content down below!

DoubleToasted.com

In March of 2016, Sam moved halfway across the country to Austin, Texas to join DoubleToasted.com, a new movie review podcast and live stream show. Having been a fan of Double Toasted's creator Korey Coleman for years, Sam took this as an opportunity to learn from someone who was finding success in the podcasting space.

During his time, Sam produced over 125 episodes of the live streaming show "Sammy Ain't Seen Sh*t," a movie review show where he watched and analyzed common films that most people have seen with fresh and unknowing eyes. He also appeared as a recurring co-host and ran the social media, moderating the very active Facebook groups and website community, known lovingly as the Chat-A-Tat-Tat.

During his time, Sam helped Korey Coleman and his crew earn Best Podcast in Austin by the Austin Chronicle in 2017 and a Silver Play Button from YouTube that same year.

The Progress Texas Podcast

6 years after moving to Austin, Sam found an opportunity to utilize his podcasting prowess for the forces of good with Progress Texas as the Digital Manager. In this role, he was brought in to bolster "The Progress Texas Happy Hour Podcast" as a new, youthful voice and contributor. Once the podcast was back to recording once a week, Sam's duties branched to other digital projects and primary hosting duties went to the new Podcast Director.

Sam still contributed his voice regularly as the only permanent Hispanic host on the program. He used this platform to promote gun reform after the school shooting in Uvalde, protecting LGBTQIA+ people from draconian laws, and promoting abortion rights in Texas and nationwide.
